Time Less Rosary
1998
Ceramics are non-combustible, hard, can be formed into any desired shape, and don't rust. Ceramics are like man-made stone which can be freely shaped and preserved indefinitely. From this material, I made a large number of "man-made stones" to form a rosary. On each stone I inscribed a line from a sutra.
Ex: PARADISE ON EARTH . . . "Please contact the temple if you find this bead in the year 3000. Kurodani, Kyoto, Japan, Earth." Each person who visits this installation took one stone home. However, the sutra connects them all, and the answer in 1000 years will make them all one again. This is a story of travel beyond time, in which reality and dream, fantasy and truth interconnect. |
