Katherine Sandnas & Ruriko Miyamoto Our work provides a unique lens which links our common heritage and illuminates an understanding of what it means to share this heritage at our present time in history. We fired the following fragments on Shigaraki Todo/translucent clay.: Hiroshima ocean sand, river sand, leaves, and seeds. Nagasaki earth and leaves. Fukushima ocean sand, shells, and flowers. Pearl Harbor sand and leaves. St. Paul’s Chapel Yard (directly across the street from the Twin Towers) earth and leaves. United States of America earth, sand, and leaves.
