The Hands from Thought to Sence, and then•••
This piece is established when the viewer places their hands in the six black boxes sequentially to interpret the letters and contents inside. Each box from one to four contains a pottery hand-applied with Braille, and the hand is shaped like a finger alphabet. A sighted person feels inside the box and reads only by touch, referring to the list of Braille and finger alphabets. The visually impaired will experience the world of the hearing impaired. Hiragana, katakana, kanji, Braille, and finger alphabets are all codes for communicating words in letters. According to Eckhart Tolle, who ranked as the world's most spiritually influential person in 2011, as soon as we attach a word to something, we become hypnotized into believing that we know what it is. In fact, we have only covered up the mystery with a label. ※ With Braille, our sensory organ called tactile sensation is used to read. It is no different from other letters in that it involves the use of thought. However, the tactile sensation itself seems to involve a moment of accepting the direct and primitive truth that comes before the brain thinks it "knows."
The viewer explores the mysterious object itself in box five. Box six is the box of recognition of universal awareness greater than the senses guided through art. |
